Cuba Aliados Cabinet Torpedo: Carrillo craft at a gentle price

Cuba Aliados is a classic name revived by the hands of Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, one of the most respected blenders working today. This Cabinet Torpedo wraps that heritage into a pointed 54-ring stick beneath a smooth Sumatra Ecuador wrapper. At a remarkably gentle price, it is a rare doorway into E.P.Carrillo's craft.
An old name, a new hand
Cuba Aliados is a long-standing brand, but what makes this stick notable is the E.P.Carrillo signature behind it. Ernesto Perez-Carrillo made his name building Cuban Cigar Brands before founding his own house, and his blends always carry a refined balance.
The cigar is rolled at Tabacalera La Alianza in the Dominican Republic, the Carrillo family's own factory, so it does not merely borrow a name but truly comes from that workmanship.
Construction and shape
This is a Torpedo, 6 inches long with a 54 ring gauge, meaning broad-bodied with a tapered head. Cut that point and you get a concentrated, richer draw from the very first puff.
The wrapper is Sumatra Ecuador, the binder Nicaraguan, the filler a blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan leaf. A three-region recipe, each origin lending its own character.
From mild to bold
The strength runs medium to full, so this cigar has power without harshness. Sumatra Ecuador wrapper tends to bring wood, nuts and a layer of warm spice, while the Nicaraguan filler pushes depth and a touch of pepper.
Toward the end it concentrates further, exactly as a torpedo should. Smoking time lands around 50 to 70 minutes, just right for a long conversation.
Value and timing
The biggest surprise is the price, far below what Carrillo's craft usually commands. This is a cigar for everyday smoking without second thoughts, or for offering a friend just warming to the hobby.
It fits a late afternoon on the porch, a coffee or a cool lager, when you want real quality without needing a grand occasion.
