Drew Estate Factory Smokes Maduro: an Estelí Maduro at an everyday price

Same rustic Factory Smokes philosophy, but this is the dark maduro version, oily and far richer than its Connecticut sibling. Hand-rolled right in Estelí, Nicaragua, with earth and dark chocolate leading the way. Drew Estate craft at an everyday price.
A maduro born in the cradle of cigars
This stick is rolled at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate in Estelí, the beating heart of Nicaraguan cigar making. The same roof produces renowned lines like Liga Privada, so the craft in this humble maduro is anything but ordinary.
Maduro is the result of a longer fermentation, producing a dark, glossy, oily wrapper. That sheen is a sign of the deep natural sweetness to come.
The construction
A Toro shape at 6 inches, ring gauge 52, medium in strength. A dark maduro wrapper on the outside, Indonesian binder, and a filler blended from Indonesia and Nicaragua.
The Nicaraguan filler is exactly what pushes this cigar deeper and bolder than the Connecticut version, giving the flavor a strong backbone.
The smoke
It opens with damp earth and coffee, then dark chocolate and caramel rise sweetly. Running through it all is the gentle spice so characteristic of Drew Estate, an unmistakable signature.
The sweetness here is not sugar but the sweetness of burnt caramel and bitter cocoa, the kind that makes you want to slow down and hold it on the tip of your tongue.
The experience and a pairing
Smoking time ranges from 55 to 90 minutes depending on your pace. This is a cigar to savor slowly, unhurried, so the earth and sweetness have time to show themselves.
It pairs beautifully with a strong black coffee or a sweeter spirit. An evening after a meal, when you want a true maduro without spending a fortune.
