Oliva Serie V Melanio Torpedo: the jewel of the Oliva house

Serie V Melanio is the peak of the Oliva house, named for founder Melanio Oliva, and the Torpedo is the jewel of that line. Long-aged ligero leaf from Nicaragua's Estelí region is rolled beneath a Sumatra wrapper, yielding a medium-to-full cigar with real depth. The Torpedo's tapered tip concentrates the smoke, making the flavors denser and sharper.
The Melanio legacy and the soil of Estelí
Oliva is one of the oldest tobacco families in Nicaragua, and Serie V Melanio is the line they reserve to honor their founder, Melanio Oliva. This is the flagship, where they show off their finest leaf.
The heart of the cigar is long-aged ligero from Estelí, a volcanic region that produces some of the richest, oiliest tobacco in Nicaragua. Ligero is the topmost leaf, soaking up the most sun and therefore the strongest and most flavorful.
The Torpedo shape and its Sumatra coat
The Sumatra wrapper dresses the cigar in a smooth brown and lends a lush sweetness. The entire filler and binder are Estelí ligero, a concentrated and powerful structure.
The Torpedo's tapered head is more than looks. When cut, the small draw hole compresses the smoke stream, making each puff denser and the flavor layers sharper than a flat cut would.
A multi-layered tasting journey
It opens on bitter coffee and black pepper, strong and wakeful. As you smoke, cedar and dark chocolate spread out, turning the cigar deep and refined.
A sweet vanilla note slips in toward the back, balancing the bitterness and spice. This is the kind of complexity that keeps Serie V on every connoisseur's must-try list.
For the serious smoker
At medium to full strength and 45 to 90 minutes of smoking time, this is not a social cigar but one to truly sit with.
Pair it with aged rum, cognac or a strong coffee. This is a cigar to save for an important evening, when you want the very best the Oliva house can offer.
